Recovering from Unemployment: A 7-Day Course to Help You Let Go and Move On from Michele Martin on Vimeo.
If you are currently unemployed and feeling stuck, this online course will help you let go and move on from some of the emotional baggage that may be getting in the way!
As a seasoned career coach, I've seen how people can be held back by their anger or despair over their joblessness.
Often they are communicating these negative emotions to potential employers without meaning to, which, of course, can keep them unemployed.
Unresolved feelings can also make it difficult to do the work that's neccessary to find a new job, including making new connections, interviewing and dealing with the stresses and challenges of the modern job search.
And negative emotions about ourselves and our situation can really wreak havoc on our personal lives--our relationships with family and friends, our physical health, and so many other aspects of our lives.
Whether you've recently lost your job or have been unemployed for awhile, your feelings about your unemployment may be holding you back, making you feeltrapped, stuck, isolated, depressed and pissed off! None of that is a recipe for a great life!
Heal and Transform through the Power of Expressive Writing
In this self-guided, 7-day course delivered over a two week period, I'll take you through a series of writing activities designed to help you release some of the most difficult emotions stirred up by job loss. These activites were developed by Dr. James Pennebaker and we'll be using them to deal specifically with the negative feelings that often accompany unemployment.
You'll have the opportunity to dig deep and release the anger, sadness and even shame that many job seekers struggle with during this time of transition. You'll also have an opportunity to develop a new understanding of yourself and what has happened to you as a result of losing your job. You can transform the pain into new knowledge and learning that you can carry forward into the next phase of your life.
By the end of the 7 days, you should be feeling better, stronger and more positive about your situation, ready to attack the job search with new optimism and strength.
And you may also see improvements in your physical health, your relationships with family and friends and your ability to focus and get things done!
This course does not require good spelling, great grammar or the ability to "write well." No one will see what you write and you have complete control of the process. I won't be "forcing" you to explore any topics you aren't ready to take on.
All that's required is your willingness to spend about 30 minutes a day going through the activities. And a commitment to doing the work all the way to the end. You will get out of this what you put into it, so make sure that you're ready to take action!
This online workshop is self-directed and delivered over a two-week period. You will have 6 days of activities, followed by a week-long break and then a final progress evaluation and next steps.
I am capping enrollment in this course at 20 people because I want to test this as an online offering.
There is a charge of $9.99 to take the course. Most likely this will go up later after I move out of the pilot phase, but I have found that people need to have some financial "skin in the game" to do the work. The ONLY way to get good outcomes from this course is you actually do the writing, so I wanted to include that additional incentive.
Are you ready to move on?
