Early Adoption is Hard When You Absolutely Count on Something
Tweet from Steve Bridger:
I haven't downloaded Firefox 3 yet either--I'm so dependent on it and all my add-ons, I don't want things to get screwed up. Also the reason that I'm still on XP and haven't moved to Vista. So even we early adopters have our blind spots. Something to keep in mind when we're working to help people try new tools.
I took the FF3 plunge, but that's late for me, as I used to grab the Release Candidates. No longer do that, as they're riskier. I'm still on XP with my main computer but my next system will be either Mac or Linux. I find that Vista is too much of a risk.
I use a similar line with people creating blogs. If the data are important, you need to have control, so that means Blogger is not a good alternative. I know where my server and backups are, because my blog is critical.
Maybe there's a difference between early adopter and crazy adopter ;-)
