This CCBC Job Search website is for students and graduates of the Community College of Baltimore County. It's designed to provide you with some of the the support, resources and tools you will need to find your next career opportunity and advance in your work. If you are still in school, we suggest that you start with:
- Jumpstart Your Job Search--This is a series of 10 job search activities you can start doing while you're still taking classes. We encourage you to make a plan to do all of these things while you're in school so that by the time you graduate, you are ready to jump into full-time job search mode.
- Setting Up Your LinkedIn Profile--LinkedIn is one of the best places for you be online. It allows you to start networking with other professionals and building the powerful network you will need to learn about hidden job opportunities before they're posted online.
- Setting Job Search Goals and Scheduling Your Day--Even if you are still in school, you should begin devoting at least a few hours a week to some job search activities, such as networking and informational interviews.
- Keeping a Job Search Journal--This can help you monitor your progress in your job search and refine what you're doing to focus on those activities that work the best for you.
If you've graduated and are ready to begin job searching full time (at least 30 hours a week), then you will need to:
- Develop Your Job Search Plan--Job search is all about having a plan and working that plan. So start here.
- Work through the Jumpstart Your Job Search series and be sure that you've followed all of these tips.
- Apply strategies from the Social Media and Job Search Tutorials. Be sure that you're using social media as part of your job search strategy.
- Use our resources on mastering the online application. Most companies require you to complete your application online, so it's important that you know how to do this properly.
- Before you go for an interview, check out our section on Good/Great answers to common interview questions. It includes audio examples for you to listen to to get an idea of how to turn "OK" interview answers into great ones. Practice making your interview answers great. Also check out our complete Acing the Interview resource page. It will give you additional advice and info on how to be a master interviewer.
- Explore the links in the right sidebar of this website. They take you to additional information and resources that can be helpful to you in the job search.
